About Missing Letters
A word completion challenge where some letters are hidden and you must fill them in. Words come from categories like Animals, Science, Sports, Music, Space, and more. A category label and optional hint help you identify the correct word. The faster you answer, the higher your score - beat the 30-second timer before the round ends!
Controls
- Type in the input field - Enter the complete word (not just the missing letters)
- Enter / Submit button - Check your answer
- Hint button - Reveal one extra letter (costs 5 points)
- Skip button - Move to the next word (no penalty, but no points)
- 1 / 2 / 3 / Random buttons - Choose how many letters are hidden per word
- New Game button - Reset score and streak
How to Play
- A word is shown with some letters replaced by underscores (_).
- The category label gives you a strong clue about what the word is.
- Type the full word into the input field and press Enter to submit.
- You have 30 seconds per word - the timer bar shows time remaining.
- Correct answers earn points based on how quickly you answered.
- Use the Hint button if you're stuck - it reveals one hidden letter at a slight point cost.
- Build your streak by answering consecutive words correctly for bonus points.
- Adjust difficulty by choosing how many letters are hidden: 1 (easiest) up to 3 (hardest), or Random for a mix.
Frequently Asked Questions
The number of blanks increases with difficulty. Easy mode shows most of the word with 1–2 blanks; Hard mode may show only a few letters for longer words.
The timer counts down per word. If time runs out, the answer is revealed and you move to the next word without scoring. Faster answers earn more points.
A hint button may reveal one additional letter at the cost of bonus points. Using hints is a good strategy when the timer is running out and you're close to the answer.
Words are drawn from everyday English vocabulary. No specialist jargon or archaic words - all words are in common use and suitable for players of all ages.
